Host Parameter (SQL)

Introduction

The SQL Host Parameter defines placeholder in an SQL command where the value is provided at execution.

Syntax

primary-host-parameter ::=
  ':' regular-identifier

Remarks

The software executing the command should provide the parameter values.

Software using the Fernhill SCADA ODBC Driver would use the SQLBindParameter() function to bind the parameter in the SQL command to data provided by the program. See Using ODBC From C/C++ for an example of binding parameters using SQLBindParameter().

Software using the Fernhill SCADA .NET Framework Data Provider would add one or parameters to the parameter collection of the SQL command. See Using VB.NET and the .NET Framework Data Provider to Access Fernhill SCADA for an example of binding parameters in ADO.NET.
