Introduction

There are three types of ODBC DSN:

DSN TypeDescription
User Visible only to the user that created the DSN. Can be created and configured without administrator privileges.
System Visible to all users on a computer. Requires administrator privileges to create and configure.
File Information about the connection is stored in a ".dsn" file.
