Create a Folder

1. Start Configuration Tool. Use one of the connection options on the Start Page to connect to Fernhill SCADA.

2. Select the Tag Window in the Configuration Tool.

3. In the Tags window, right click on the root entry: Database Icon localhost

4. Select Add new folder to create a new folder:

Create a Siemens S7 MPI Channel Tag

1. Right click on Folder and select New Tag, followed by Siemens S7, followed by Siemens S7 MPI channel.

2. Change the name of the channel to Channel:

3. In the Properties Window enter suitable values for Mitsubishi Melsec Serial Channel properties:

Property Explanation
Mode Click the Browse button Browse button to use the Serial Port Mode Editor to select the appropriate baud rate for the MPI adapter.
Port Click the Browse button Browse button to choose the COM port the PLC is connected to. For example COM1.
BusSpeed For HMI or PC adapters, select the MPI bus speed.
HighestAddress For HMI or PC adapters, enter the highest station address. Typically 15, 31 or 62.
SingleMaster For HMI or PC adapters, choose whether the MPI adapter is the only master on the bus.

Note: Teleservice (TS) adapters are preconfigured with the MPI bus parameters.

Create a Siemens S7 MPI PLC

1. Right click on Folder and select New Tag, followed by Siemens S7, followed by Siemens S7 Serial PLC Tag.

2. Change the name of the new tag to PLC:

3. In the Properties Window enter suitable values for the Mitsubishi Melsec PLC Tag properties:

PropertyExplanation
ChannelClick the Browse button Browse button to open the browse dialog. Select the channel created earlier.
AddressThe MPI address of the PLC.

Note: Once the PLC tag is associated with the Channel tag, Fernhill SCADA will attempt to establish communications. You can monitor the status of the PLC tag in the Status Monitor Window.
