Introduction

A VDR is a recording system designed to collect data from multiple systems on a vessel. For example, the VDR records:

The VDR Talker Driver allows Fernhill SCADA to send information to a VDR. Information sent to the VDR is transmitted in the form of sentences. The VDR Talker Driver supports these sentences:

The VDR Talker Driver provides these tag types:

Icon Tag Type Version Description
The Icon that represents a Communication Channel. NMEA 0183 Channel Tag 4.1 A communication channel to a VDR.
The icon that represents a Talker Id. NMEA 0183 Talker Id Tag 4.1 A source of data for a VDR sharing a common Talker Id.
The icon that represents a Transducer Measurement. NMEA 0183 Transducer Measurement Tag 4.1 A source of data for XDR sentences sent to a VDR.

To configure Fernhill SCADA to communicate with a VDR, do the following:

  1. Create and configure a NMEA 0183 Channel Tag.
  2. Create a NMEA 0183 Talker Id Tag. Configure these properties of the NMEA 0183 Talker Id Tag:
