The Operator Interface is a lightweight, free runtime application to display SCADA graphics and data.

Display Page Types

The Operator Interface provides these display page types to display SCADA graphics and data:

The Operator Interface Toolbar at the top of the window provides convenient shortcuts to common commands. For example: Navigate Back or Display the Home Page.

When not connected to Fernhill SCADA, the Operator Interface shows a Start Page. The Start Page provides help links, a list of recent connections, and a means to establish new connections to Fernhill SCADA.

Starting the Operator Interface on Windows

On Windows, you can start the Operator Interface in three different ways:

Start the Operator Interface From a Shortcut

Fernhill SCADA places a shortcut to the Operator Interface on the Windows Start Menu. Use this table to find the shortcut based on the Version of Windows you are using:

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Click All apps
  3. Scroll down and expand Fernhill SCADA.

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Scroll down and expand Fernhill SCADA.

  1. Open the Start screen.
  2. Click the down arrow.
  3. Scroll right until you see the section Fernhill SCADA

Windows Server 2008
  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Select All Programs.
  3. Expand the folder Fernhill SCADA.

To provide more convenient access to the Operator Interface, use one or more of these methods:

Start the Operator Interface From the Configuration Tool

You can start the Operator Interface from the Configuration Tool:

  1. Select a Graphic Page Tag in the Tag Window.
  2. Right-click and select Open in Operator Interface.

Start the Operator Interface From the Notification Icon

You can also start the Operator Interface from the Fernhill SCADA Notification Icon:

  1. Right-click the Fernhill SCADA Notification Icon Notification icon running.
  2. Select Operator Interface.

Starting the Operator Interface on Linux

On Linux you can start the Operator Interface in two different ways:

Start the Operator Interface from a Linux Terminal

Starting the Operator Interface from a Linux Terminal will work in most Linux distributions.

To start the Operator Interface from a Linux Terminal:

  1. Start a Terminal session.
  2. Enter the command FHViewApp.
  3. Press Return.

Start the Operator Interface from the Desktop Manager

The method of starting the Operator Interface depends on which Linux distribution you are using:

Linux Distribution Instructions
Ubuntu To start the Operator Interface on Ubuntu:
  1. Click the Show Applications button.
  2. Click the Fernhill SCADA icon.
Debian To start the Operator Interface on Debian:
  1. Start the Application Finder.
  2. In the search box enter the word Fern.
  3. Double-click the entry Fernhill SCADA Operator Interface.
Raspberry Pi OS To start the Operator Interface on Raspberry Pi OS:
  1. Start the Start Menu.
  2. Click Other.
  3. Click Fernhill SCADA Operator Interface.

Customization Options

Customize the Startup of the Operator Interface

You can use Operator Interface Command Line Options to control how the operator interface starts.

For example, the command line option --Connect=Address will try to connect the Operator Interface to a Fernhill SCADA Server.

Full Screen Mode

Press the F11 key to toggle between full screen and window mode.
