Introduction

The Fernhill SCADA Notification Icon Notification Icon is a feature of the Windows version of Fernhill SCADA. It is visible in the Notification Area of the Windows Taskbar:

Depending on your desktop settings the Fernhill SCADA Notification Icon may be hidden:

Starting the Notification Icon

The Fernhill SCADA Notification Icon starts automatically when you log on to a Windows computer.

If for any reason the notification icon is not running, you can restart it. Fernhill SCADA places a shortcut to the Operator Interface on the Windows Start Menu. Use this table to find the shortcut based on the Version of Windows you are using:

  3. Scroll down and expand Fernhill SCADA.

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Scroll down and expand Fernhill SCADA.

  1. Open the Start screen.
  2. Click the down arrow.
  3. Scroll right until you see the section Fernhill SCADA

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Select All Programs.
  3. Expand the folder Fernhill SCADA.

Notification Icon Appearance

The Fernhill SCADA Notification Icon shows the state of the Fernhill SCADA Server:

Fernhill SCADA Notification Icon indicating a synchronizing server. The Fernhill SCADA Server is running in standby mode and is synchronizing to the active server.

Fernhill SCADA Notification Icon indicating a configuration problem. The Fernhill SCADA Server is running, but there is a problem with the standby configuration.

If you click the right mouse button on the Fernhill SCADA Notification Icon, a menu opens allowing you to access the runtime features:

The menu contains these commands:

Menu EntryDescription
About Displays the About Box showing the version of Fernhill SCADA running.
Operator Interface Opens the Operator Interface for the instance of Fernhill SCADA running on this computer.
View Display the View Menu allowing you to choose a Fernhill SCADA data table to view.
User Rights... Opens the User Rights Editor to allow you to define the rights users, or user groups, have when accessing Fernhill SCADA.
Backup... Allows you to back up the current configuration to a file.
Restore... Restores configuration from a previous backup.
Open client log file folder Opens Windows Explorer where you can view client diagnostic log files.
Open server log file folder Opens Windows Explorer where you can view server diagnostic log files.
Start Server Monitor Opens the Server Monitor Tool.
Manage Windows Service... Opens the Fernhill SCADA Service Manager. Using this tool you can:
Exit Closes the Fernhill SCADA Notification Icon.

The View Menu allows you to display a Fernhill SCADA data table using the SQL Test Tool:
